Family owned on Pawtucket Avenue since 1939
BTS Tire & Service Store has been fixing and fitting cars on the Providence and Pawtucket line for more than eighty five years. The shop is still local and family owned, still at 580 Pawtucket Ave, and still run by people who work on cars for a living rather than a corporate office somewhere else.
We serve Rhode Island and Southeast Massachusetts, and the customer on the other side of the counter is as likely to be a fleet manager bringing in a dozen vehicles a year as it is someone who found us on a Saturday with a flat tire. Both get the same estimate before the work starts and the same shop floor doing the work.
Eighty five years in one place changes what a shop is for. People come back with the second car, then the kid’s first car, and they expect you to remember what you did to the last one. That is most of why the counter works the way it does here: you get the estimate to sign off on before anything is touched, and the number at the end is the number you agreed to. Customers write that down in reviews more often than they mention the tires.
The range under the roof is wider than the name suggests. Tires are the front door, and behind them the same building does brakes, alignment, air conditioning and climate control, exhaust, axles and CV joints, steering and suspension, transmission work, cooling systems, belts and hoses, batteries and charging, engine diagnostics, oil and filter changes, and Rhode Island state safety inspections. That matters mostly because it means the car does not need a second appointment somewhere else.

Then and now
The awning has changed color and the lettering has changed twice, but the address has not moved and neither has the family behind the counter. These two frames are from earlier years at the same shopfront, kept here as the record rather than touched up to look current.

What has not changed is how the work gets done

Alignment is measured on a John Bean diagnostic alignment system rather than set by eye, and we still service all makes and models rather than specialising in one brand. Nationwide warranties of up to 24 months apply to the products and services we install, so the coverage holds even if something comes up away from Rhode Island.
If you have been quoted elsewhere, bring the written estimate in and we will match it or beat it. Some restrictions apply, so we go through the paperwork with you at the counter rather than over the phone.
The building itself is wheelchair accessible, with an accessible entrance, parking lot, restroom and seating, because the customer on the other side of the counter is not always able to stand in a waiting room for an hour.

What we stock, and who stands behind it
On the tire side we carry Goodyear, Michelin, Bridgestone, Continental, Pirelli, Yokohama, Falken, Kumho and General, across passenger, all season, high performance, light truck, mud, off road, run flat and snow, plus commercial tires for the vans and trucks that have to be back out in the morning. On the wheel side there are Motiv, Cruiser, Cragar, Platinum and alloy rims. Most installations are finished the same day you bring the car in.
The technicians are ASE certified, the shop is AAA approved, and we work with RepairPal and with most extended warranty companies, CarShield and Endurance among them. If the bill is bigger than the week allows, there is financing through the Goodyear card, the Continental card via Synchrony, and ACIMA Leasing, all subject to credit approval. Local students get 10 percent off their next service, up to 50 dollars. Ask before the work is written up rather than after.
There is also a free spring and summer vehicle maintenance check, which goes over belts, fluids, tires, brakes, hoses, wipers and bulbs, and takes in coolant system protection level, battery condition, tire pressure and tread depth. It is the cheap half hour that catches the expensive thing early.
“I have used them for a couple years now for my car and the fleet I manage. Never more or less than what I ask for. They also give an estimate to sign off on before they start work.”
